Google released the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro models in August, which was quite surprising as the company typically announced its flagship smartphones in October. Alongside the new devices, Google also releases new Android updates for the new and older Pixel phones. This time around, though, the company decided to release the Pixel 9 series with last year's Android 14, with speculations of the Android 15 rollout expected next month. If you are anxiously waiting for the new update, you might as well know which devices will support the new Android 15 update or which older models are still compatible with the forthcoming build.
Android 15 will be compatible with these Pixel phones on the first day of release
Android 15 will come with a plethora of new visual and feature upgrades that all users should try out on a compatible device. Unfortunately, not all Pixel devices will support the upgrade, as the company has dropped some models from the list. Nonetheless, the range of devices is still extensive, and if your device is not part of the list below, it would be best to invest in one before the company releases Android 15 to the public next month.

We have recently reported that Google will release the Android 15 update on October 15, which aligns with the company's typical time frame. It was rather strange when the company announced the Pixel 9 series with older version of the software as the company has upgraded the platform with some pretty nifty features and upgrades, including new AI features.
While some features will be exclusive to the new Pixel 9 lineup, all older models will also get a handful of additions. We suspect that the new visual changes will be available on all compatible Pixel phones next month, but be sure to take the news with a grain of salt. Google increased the range of devices that will get Android updates last year, which means that starting with the Pixel 8, all newer models will get up to seven years of OS updates.
While Google's claims have yet to be tested, it remains to be seen whether the newer updates will make older devices slower. Other than this, Google also has to make sure that its devices get new Android versions quickly. Apart from the Pixel lineup, other Android smartphone manufacturers will also release the latest versions of the software soon, possibly later this year.
