Google Photos update revealed in an APK teardown

Google is vigorously working to optimize user experience, especially when it comes to its app. It is constantly making iterations to ensure a more seamless navigation. Now, a recent APK teardown of Google Photos reveals that the tech giant is introducing a new toolbar that will make it easy to share albums and bring some major convenience.

Google Photos is working towards a more seamless experience for users by bringing in a new floating toolbar

Google is introducing yet another user-friendly feature aimed at improving the Google Photos experience through seamless navigation and greater convenience, especially when sharing images with a new floating toolbar.

The update aimed at improving the user interface brings two major changes, and that involves relocating the "Share" and "Add Photos" options. The buttons are now shifted to the bottom of the screen, making it easier to navigate, especially with one hand. Users consider it a major pain point when these buttons go up as they scroll, making it difficult to reach out, leading to a not-so-smooth interaction with the platform.

The feature was stumbled upon during an APK teardown of Google Photos version 7.1, which gave us a sneak peek at what to expect in the upcoming update. Although the teardown helps us identify some of the features that will be included in the update, it is not necessary for all the features discovered to make it to the public release, so such information should be taken with a grain of salt.

The new toolbar allows for better accessibility, especially when users go through their albums and want to share the photos or add them to a certain album. Since the buttons are now within reach, there is no need to constantly reposition them, greatly improving the app's usability. The toolbar tends to fade when browsing and reappears when scrolling upward, it makes the experience immersive and free from visual distractions.

The new floating toolbar also includes a new 'Edit' option that allows you to reorganize photos and make necessary changes without having to go to the context menu. This option is currently not available in the Google Photos live version but could potentially roll out in a future update, as per the APK teardown.

Google is working to improve the user-sharing experience massively by making interactions within the app seamless. Introducing a one-handed scrolling experience marks a huge leap in phone user experience, and users would be delighted to know that the pain points are finally being addressed.
