The premium workstation Zen 5 series will soon be available for purchase as the processors have started to appear in some retail stores.
B&H Photo Video Lists Several SKUs From the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000WX Series on Website; No Confirmed Release Date But Pre-Orders Begin on July 23rd
AMD's newest premium Zen 5 offerings for professionals are about to hit the shelves. The Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000WX series, which the company showcased at Computex, was scheduled for a July launch, and we can see that some retailers have started preparing for it. While still not officially launched for sale, the processors can now be seen on a major retailer.
B&H Photo Video has listed some processors from the 9000WX family, and while their prices and the exact launch date aren't revealed, the website will start taking pre-orders on 23rd July. This could mean that the CPUs should start shipping a few days later. As per the listings, there are four SKUs, which will be up for pre-order next week. These are:
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX: 96-cores/192-threads
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9985WX: 64-cores/128-threads
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9975WX: 32-cores/64-threads
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9665WX: 24-cores/48-threads
There are a total of six SKUs in the family, and the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9955WX and 9945X are still missing. AMD may launch it a few weeks later, but this is just our speculation. Currently, AMD is aiming at delivering leading workstation performance by debuting the strongest CPUs in the lineup. The Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX was already seen in a benchmark recently, offering competitive performance in multi-threaded tests.
The CPU was listed on a retailer as well, and its price was over $12,000. This isn't official yet as AMD hasn't commented on the pricing, but it should be closer to $10,000. The other Zen 5-based workstation 9000WX processors bring a lower core count but are still capable of crunching large numbers in no time. As per AMD, the Threadripper PRO 9000WX is about 16% faster than its predecessor in workstation apps and about 25% faster in AI and ML.
AMD also claims up to 108% performance boost over the Xeon W9-3595X, but one can see anywhere from 22% to 92% performance increase in various applications, which is expected since the Intel processor offers fewer cores and threads. As per AMD, the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000WX is best for AI workloads, but offers an overall 26% generational uplifts.
