AMD's flagship Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX CPU has been overclocked to 5 GHz, achieving an insane Cinebench score & power consumption.
AMD's Top 96-Core "Zen 5" Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX Posts A Wild Cinebench Score With a 5 GHz Overclock
Just a few days ago, after the first independent benchmarks of AMD's upcoming Ryzen Threadripper 9000 "Shimada Peak" CPUs started appearing, a new benchmark has just landed with an even higher score, and some insane overclocking potential.
Starting with the specifications for the top part, the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX will be the ultimate workstation solution based on the Zen 5 core architecture. It will pack 96 cores and 192 threads, a boost clock of up to 5.4 GHz, and up to 384 MB of L3 + 96 MB of L2 cache.
The chip will have a default TDP of 350W, and is based on the optimized TSMC 4nm process node. There are a total of 13 chiplets on the chip itself, which include 12 CCDs and 1 IOD, and you also get up to 148 PCIe lanes, of which 144 are usable and 128 are PCIe 5.0 based. The chip will support DDR5 (RDIMM) memory with 8 channels, and up to 6400 MT/s speeds.
In the previous benchmark run, the CPU was ran with PBO enabled and consumed up to 840W of power. The chip scored an impressive 173,452 points in the Cinebench R23 benchmark, a 60% increase over its predecessor, the 7995WX. Now, a new benchmark has popped up where the chip has been overclocked to 5 GHz across all 96 cores.
Cinebench R23
With the 5 GHz overclock, the chip scores a far impressive, 186,800 points in the Cinebench R23 bench. The chip consumed 947W of power and under standard AIO cooling, it reached a peak temperature of 98C. The system used for tested included an ASUS Pro WS RTX50-SAGE WIFI motherboard (1106 BIOS), with 144 GB of DDR5-6000 (CL32) memory. This pushes the performance to a 70% uplift over the default Pro 7995WX.
This is still 11% behind the world record of the Threadripper PRO 7995WX but that score was achieved using LN2, and an overclock of 6.25 GHz. So we can expect the Threadripper PRO 9995WX to score close to 250K points when overclocked under LN2 which will be rip every previous and existing Threadripper / Xeon part.
That's not all, other benchmark scores at 4.9 GHz have also been shared which we are listing below.
Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX 4.9 GHz OC CPU Benchmarks:
