AMD Acknowledges Error With the Latest Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 in Windows 10 Installations; Says, Engineers are Investigating and Recommends Rolling Back to Previous Version
The major graphics driver update just caused some issues for Windows 10 owners. Lots of reports are surfacing online reporting errors with the graphics driver on Windows 10. As per the reports, the new software fails to launch on Windows 10 systems and shows the yellow bang in Device Manager.
AMD has confirmed the issue and published a dedicated page on it. The article shows an AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition Warning, which reveals that the error is due to some incompatibility with the AMD graphics driver. As per the article, the issue only appears to affect Windows 10 users, and there are no such reports on Windows 11.
AMD says that its engineers are working on it and are currently investigating the issue. Once the fix is available, they will likely re-release the driver or apply a patch for fixing the problem. However, users who are currently experiencing this are told to roll back to the previous driver, which is Adrenalin Edition 26.6.1.
That particular version doesn't bring FSR 4.1 support to RX 7000, aka RDNA 3 GPUs, which Adrenalin 26.6.2 brought yesterday. That means users with RDNA 3 GPUs won't be able to turn on FSR 4.1 in their games unless they opt for a third-party tool like OptiScaler. Nonetheless, AMD should be coming soon with the fix, and once it's applied, RX 7000 owners should have no problem.
That said, there have been reports that this error also appears on systems with the RX 9000 series, but these reports are few. That clearly indicates a compatibility issue with Windows 10.
