AMD refutes claims that it is working on a Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU with 32 GB of memory.
Frank Azor Confirms No Plans for a 32 GB Edition of RX 9070 XT
The rumors of AMD working on a 32 GB RX 9070 XT GPU have been debunked by AMD itself. If you remember our previous report, a leaker on Chiphell indicated that there is possibly a 32 GB edition of the RX 9070 XT coming this year. Moreover, it was reported that the GPU will belong to the 'Gaming' series and not the PRO family.
All these are now proven to be false as AMD's Frank Azor has just replied to Techpowerup's X post, informing users that there won't be a 32 GB version of the GPU:
No, the 9070 XT card is not coming in 32 GB capacity. https://t.co/SSKCrqSN7S

The Radeon RX 9070 XT will be coming with 16 GB GDDR6 VRAM and considering the GPU's potential, it would have been difficult for the GPU to provide any noticeable gaming uplifts with a 32 GB version. In the rumor, it was stated that this was aimed at AI applications but would do gaming as well.
AMD hasn't offered a 32 GB gaming GPU till now, and it makes sense to not offer 32 GB of capacity on a upper-mid range GPU, considering that the GPU wouldn't be able to leverage the prowess of such a huge capacity. It's unlikely that AMD will have a higher VRAM capacity than 16 GB in the RDNA 4 lineup as the RX 9070 XT is supposedly the flagship card based on the Navi 48 GPU.
Other GPUs such as RX 9070 and Navi 44-based cards will be inferior in specifications and hence, performance. AMD has announced that the RX 9000 series will be officially revealed on 28th February and this means, we will get to know the specs, price and first-party performance of the GPUs officially.
The retail launch will follow in early March, and around the same time frame, NVIDIA is expected to launch the GeForce RTX 5070 GPU. Azor previously mentioned that AMD's 70-class GPUs will compete against NVIDIA's 70-class cards, and it will be exciting to see how the RX 9070 XT or 9070 stacks against RTX 5070 Ti or RX 5070.
