AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 is going to be the first 8-core "Strix" APU, featuring 3 Zen 5 cores, 5 Zen 5C cores, and the Radeon 880M iGPU.
AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 APU Pops Up At Geekbench With 8 "Zen 5" Cores & Radeon 880M iGPU
AMD's Strix Point isn't just ending with a few SKUs as we are now sure that the AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 exists. A few days ago, we reported that Lenovo is preparing a Copilot+-certified PC with one of the upcoming Ryzen AI 300 PRO chips and today we have spotted one on Geekbench.
Thanks to @Olrak29_(Everest), the AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 APU has been spotted on Geekbench with its performance numbers. From the listed specifications, it appears that the processor was used on a new platform called 'AMD KoratPlus-STXKRK'. If we consider this name, we see that 'STX' most likely denotes the Strix Point while 'KRK' denotes the Krackan Point. Krackan Point is a variant of Strix Point, aiming at the mainstream segment.
As reported previously, this AMD Ryzen AI PRO 360 is going to be used in the upcoming Lenovo laptop. As mentioned in the specs, the Ryzen AI PRO 360 is an 8-core, 16-thread processor with a base frequency of 2.00 GHz. Its iGPU will be Radeon 880M, which is an RDNA 3.5-based graphics and consists of 12 Compute Units.
Therefore, it's safe to assume that the AMD Ryzen AI PRO 360 APU is part of the Strix Point family as Krackan Point will supposedly bring 8 CU integrated graphics. The Krackan Point will be a low-power and affordable mobile CPU series, which is aimed at the early 2025 series and the Strix Point is for the premium mobile segment.
Up until now, the AMD Strix Point APUs have been mostly used inside gaming laptops. Just now a few vendors such as AOOSTAR and Beelink have started to show off their Mini PCs featuring Ryzen AI 300 APUs. The Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 will be an entry-tier configuration that will use 3x Zen 5 + 5x Zen 5C cores, which is less than the 4x Zen 5 + 6x Zen 5c cores present on the Ryzen AI 7 365 processor.
If we compare the performance numbers of AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 to Ryzen AI 7 365, the latter comes superior with a significant performance uplift due to having more cores. However, both CPUs have the same Radeon 880M graphics, which could mean similar graphical performance. That said, it is expected that AMD will reveal the Ryzen AI 300 PRO chips on 10th October and the Strix Halo will be revealed next year at CES.
