The upcoming Zen 4 X3D chip has already been added to the CPUID database, allowing better monitoring of the CPU.
CPU-Z Gets Early Support for Upcoming Zen 4 AMD Ryzen 7 7700X3D CPU, A New X3D Chip Boasting 8-Cores and 16 Threads With 96 MB L3 Cache
AMD is not yet done with the Zen 4 series. After the success of the X3D processors, AMD usually keeps expanding the X3D stack by adding more CPUs. It has been releasing more Zen 4 X3D CPUs after launching the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 7900X3D, and Ryzen 7950X3D. We have the Ryzen 5 7600X3D and the Ryzen 5 7500X3D as well.
Now, as we move closer to the release of Zen 6, AMD has already prepared a new Zen 4 X3D processor called Ryzen 7 7700X3D, as we recently reported. Up until now, it was a rumor, but now CPUID has confirmed the existence of such a CPU. CPUID has rolled out the latest CPU-Z version v2.20.1 for Windows, and the release notes explicitly mention the new CPU.
In the release notes, we are seeing identical components as in version 2.20, except for the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X3D. The Ryzen 7 7700X3D is the latest CPU to be added to CPUID's database, and that means CPU-Z will offer better reporting for the chip. The Ryzen 7 7700X3D will be a noticeably downgraded chip over the existing Ryzen 7 7800X3D. According to the previous leak, we saw that the processor will boast lower clocks, but will keep the same 8-core/16-thread arrangement.
Expect the Ryzen 7 7700X3D to boast 4.0 GHz of base and 4.5 GHz of boost clock, which will result in noticeable performance regression. However, the rest of the specifications don't appear affected, including the 96 MB of L3 cache, 120W of TDP, and it should also carry the same iGPU. The processor should launch soon, but AMD hasn't disclosed any information on it yet.
