AMD's Ryzen 5000G APUs are getting an upgrade in the sub-$150 US category with the Ryzen 5 5600GT & 5500GT 6-core chips.

AMD Upgrades AM4 APUs With Ryzen 5 5600GT and Ryzen 5 5500GT Chips, Sub-$150 US Price Points

As mentioned in the last post, the AMD AM4 platform continues to see new updates, and the Ryzen 5000G APUs are also getting two new SKUs. Designed for budget PC builders and gamers, the new APUs offer boosted clocks at price points that are very affordable.

Coming straight to the specifications, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600GT is the fastest 6-core APU entry on the AM4 platform with 12 threads and utilizes the Cezanne "Zen 3" silicon. This chip rocks a base clock speed of 3.6 GHz and boosts up to 4.6 GHz. The chip carries 19 MB of cache, a 65W TDP, and the same Radeon Vega 7 iGPU with faster clocks. The clock speed is boosted by 200 MHz but the price is set at $140 US which makes it a compelling choice for entry-level builders.

The second chip is even more affordable at $125 US. The AMD Ryzen 5 5500GT is equipped with 6 cores, 12 threads, a base clock of 3.6 GHz, and a boost clock of 4.4 GHz. The chip carries the same Radeon Vega 7 iGPU and a 65W TDP. In terms of performance, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600GT is up to 10% faster in gaming and 11% faster in productivity workloads versus the Ryzen 5 5600G whereas the Ryzen 5 5500GT is up to 3% faster in gaming and up to 10% faster in productivity workloads vs the Ryzen 5 5600G.

Both chips feature an unlocked design so overclocking is very well possible for both CPU and GPU cores. Plus, the chips will come bundled with an AMD Wraith Stealth cooler, and at a 65W TDP, you don't have to worry much about temperatures. Both chips will be launching on 31st January and will be compatible with the AM4 motherboard lineup. For users who want 8-cores, the AM4 board platform is also getting the Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 7 5700 CPUs.
