AMD would be launching a new power efficient Piledriver CPU FX-8300 tomorrow that features a 95 Watt TDP but costs more than the flagship FX-8350.

AMD FX-8300 - 95W Piledriver

AMD FX-8300 processor is based on the 32nm x86 Piledriver core architecture that was launched in October. The FX-8300 is a Eight-Core CPU that runs at a base clock speed of 3.30 GHz and Turbo Core speed of 3.60 GHz. Along with the lower TDP of 95W, compared to 125W on the rest of FX Vishera lineup, the FX-8300 processor features a 8 MB L3 Cache.

Despite being slower than the FX-8350 and FX-8320, the FX-8300 is said to cost more than them. The FX-8350 currently retails at $195 US so we can assume that the cost would come to around $210-$215. According to Expreview, the chip has already started to sell in Japanese market and is expected to arrive tomorrow on 29th December.

One thing we noticed was that there are infact two models of the FX-8300 chip. One is the 95W model we have mentioned in this article and the other is a 125W model launched almost two months ago with OEM systems. The 125W model runs at 3.3 GHz stock and 4.2 GHz Turbo core frequency with 8 MB L3 Cache.
