AMD And Intel Budget 800-Chipset Motherboards Will Reportedly Launch Mid-January But Pre-Orders For Intel Boards Will Start A Week Before

Intel and AMD 800 series

Both Intel and AMD are rumored to unveil their motherboards at CES but will only start shipping them a week later.

AMD B850, B840, and Intel B860 and B810 Motherboards Will Be Announced on January 7, Right Around CES 2025

Intel and AMD are yet to unveil their latest lineups of 800 chipset motherboards. Each of them had already released their most powerful 800-chipset motherboards a few months ago, namely the Z890 and X870/X870E, but their affordable tier motherboards have yet to be announced.

If the leaks are true, then both companies will announce their budget 800-series motherboards at CES 2025. As reported by Board Channels, we can expect both companies to unveil their 800-series motherboards on January 7, 2025, followed by the official retail launch a week later. While AMD will launch their for-purchase motherboards on January 15, the Intel 800-series motherboards will be available two days early, on January 13.

AMD has the B850 and B840 chipset motherboards, which we saw a few times recently in various leaks, and Intel has the B860 and H810 chipset motherboards. Their board partners, such as Gigabyte, ASUS, MSI, etc., have prepared their latest editions, offering affordable options to the masses, particularly those who don't want all the premium specifications and features.

Intel's B860 and H810 are expected to be launched alongside non-K and F Core Ultra 200 desktop processors since those chips are non-overclockable, and both the B860 and H810 chipsets won't support CPU overclocking. Surprisingly, Intel is reportedly allowing pre-orders of these motherboards one day before the unveiling, i.e., 6th January, but AMD doesn't. As per the report, offline dealers will get motherboards a week before online retailers do.

The AMD B850 will be capable of overclocking CPUs, but the B840 is an entry-level chipset that will replace the previous-gen A620 chipset motherboard. At the moment, AMD already has 600-chipset motherboards with the AM5 socket that supports the latest Zen 5 Ryzen 9000 CPUs, but Intel only has the Z890, which is much more expensive than the upcoming 800-chipset motherboards.

Hence, AMD owners can opt for the B650/B650E motherboards if they don't want to wait for the B850 chipset boards. We will know more about the models and their pricing in the coming days, but we recently reported about the price leaks of some of the 800-series AMD and Intel motherboards.
