AMD has released a brand new Adrenalin Driver, 23.8.1, which aims to fix several issues with Radeon RX 7000, RX 700M GPUs such as high idle power draw, game crashes & performance degradations.

AMD Fixes High Idle Power Draw, Performance Drops & Game Crashes For Radeon RX 7000 & Radeon RX 700M GPUs

The AMD Radeon RX 7000 GPUs in particular have been facing high idle power draw issues when running multi-display setups, high refresh rate displays, and high-resolution panels. The company recently rolled out an intermediate fix but is now offering even more optimizations (with more on the way). In addition to that, gamers can also expect various fixes to some of the most recent and popular games.

One example is Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart where the AMD Radeon RX 7000 GPUs were unable to support ray tracing and the developers had to disable it for the RDNA 3 cards prior to enabling it back again with the last driver release. Despite the newer driver release, the cards still exhibited application crashes and driver timeouts when running the title with ray-tracing or Dynamic Scaling enabled. So that's another issue that has been addressed.

There are also some fixes for the AMD Radeon RX 5000 and RX 6000 GPUs but one of the most interesting fixes comes in the form of the performance drop which was encountered on the AMD Ryzen CPUs with Radeon 700M GPUs. This was very prevalent on the Phoenix Ryzen 7040 series & the rest of the iGPU family. So it's great to see that AMD has a fix for this now.

Besides the fixes, AMD also adds support for Immortals of Avenum which was released yesterday. You can read our review of the game here. As for the full driver notes, they are listed below:
