The 55" OLED gaming monitor by Alienware finally has a release date. As announced today at gamescom 2019, the display will be available on September 30th in North America and October 30th in the EMEA market.

The price is going to be steep, to say the least: £3,199.99 in the United Kingdom. That's much more than LG's own 55" OLED TVs released only a few months ago.

Additionally, those TVs also support HDR, Dolby Vision, and HDMI 2.1. The Alienware OLED gaming monitor was also supposed to support those technologies according to the initial info shared at CES 2019, but the spec sheet shared today shows no sign of them.

As far as we can see, the only advantage this OLED gaming monitor has over OLED TVs is the faster response time. Whether that will be enough to find a niche for this product, only time will tell.

OLED displays are known for their amazing color quality and per-pixel lighting, offering an amazing “true black”, infinite contrast ratio. Combined with the built-in gaming features, the high resolution and screen-size is aimed to deliver the most immersive gaming experience by taking OLED to the next level.

Offering incredible color coverage with 98.5% DCI-P3 color coverage, providing incredible accuracy and color depth so that the game’s colors are experienced as it was designed.

The 4K UHD resolution (3840x2160) keeps the image sharp, whether you choose to sit up close for intense gaming, or further away with a gamepad for a more casual experience.

A 120Hz variable refresh rate is twice as fast as typical monitors, cutting down on the visual gaps that take place between screen refreshes. React faster to sudden movements, dodge swift sword swings, and overcome your enemies with the more true-to-life, smooth refresh speed.

Lightning fast response with a 0.5ms response time kills blur and ghosting as each pixel is ready for a new image near-instantaneously. Additionally, low input latency provides tight, responsive controls that react when you think it.

AMD Radeon FreeSync minimizes graphic distortions such as tearing and artifacts from forming on screen, allowing you to experience smooth, responsive gameplay.

The vision-filling, 54.6” screen offers more screen area than five standard 24” monitors. Get immersed in the game with this monster on your gaming desk or on the wall of your gaming control room.

Full connectivity with DisplayPort 1.2, three HDMI 2.0 ports, 4x USB ports, SPDIF Audio line-out, and a headphone jack means that multiple devices can be connected at once.

The new Alienware design, known as Legend, has been introduced into the Alienware monitor lineup. It is a bolder, sculpted, universal, minimal and iconic expression of the Alienware brand.

AlienFX customizable lighting allows gamers to set the mood with the Alienware head logo and the continuous light strip on rear in unison with full RGB values. The large light strip on the back panel adds ambiance as it illuminates any wall that it is pushed up against, delivering more game immersion.

Flexible setups with a convenient remote control and VESA mount compatibility (requires included adapter) makes it easy to set up an envy-inducing gaming den.
