Alan Wake: Flashback

Today, Epic and Remedy announced they have partnered with Spiral House and Zen Creative to make Alan Wake: Flashback. Created using the Unreal Editor for Fortnite, this is a reimagining of the story of the first Alan Wake game, and it may now be accessed in Discover or through the island code 3426-5561-3374.

Clearly, Epic and Remedy are attempting to renew interest in the franchise ahead of the release of Alan Wake 2, of which they are publisher and developer, respectively. The long-awaited sequel launches next Friday for PC (where it'll be a permanent Epic Games Store exclusive), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. On consoles, Remedy said the game will include a performance mode.

We're still waiting for the PC system requirements, weirdly enough, though the Northlight engine is usually very optimized. Granted, the game will support up to path tracing and NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 on PC, which will undoubtedly require a high-end GeForce RTX 40 to run smoothly. If you don't have a powerful PC, you can stream Alan Wake 2 via GeForce NOW.

Alan Wake: Flashback isn't the only crossover promotion Epic is planning with Fortnite. The popular free-to-play game is getting an 'Alan Wake Outfit' alongside other in-game cosmetics in the “Waking Nightmare” Set, scheduled to be available through the Item Shop starting October 26th at 8 PM ET. Players who pre-purchased Alan Wake 2 will receive the Outfit and Alan’s Messenger Bag Back Bling in Fortnite.
