Alan Wake 2

Last month at Sony’s big PlayStation Showcase, we got a first tantalizing look at Alan Wake 2, the game Remedy Entertainment promises will be their first true survival horror title. The first trailer certainly delivered plenty of tension and moody environments, and also introduced us to the game’s new co-protagonist Saga Anderson, an FBI agent investigating a series of ritualistic killings in the small town of Bright Falls. It was intriguing stuff, but really just felt like an appetizer. Alan Wake fans were hungry for more, and thankfully, Remedy has given us just that.

At the big Summer Game Fest 2023 kickoff show, we got a new peek at Alan Wake 2 gameplay, showcasing a few minutes of gameplay. The game is looking fairly impressive, offering up nice lighting and various atmospheric effects that set the scene. The days of simply shining your flashlight at enemies are also gone, as we see new co-protagonist Saga Anderson facing off with a hulking occultist in a battle that feels ripped from Resident Evil.

Speaking of Saga, while talking with Geoff Keighley, Remedy’s Sam Lake revealed you’ll be able to freely switch between Saga and Alan following a brief introductory chapter featuring Saga. Both characters will have their own stories, and it will be up to you at what pace you want to progress them. You can check it out the new Alan Wake 2 footage for yourself, below.

Remedy rarely misses, and it doesn’t look like they’re going to change that with their latest adventure. Haven’t been keeping up with Alan Wake 2? Here are the game’s key features…

Alan Wake 2 shines a light on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 on October 17.
