There are a myriad of differences separating the AirPods Pro 3 from the AirPods Pro 2, but regardless of the features that Apple has incorporated in its flagship wireless earbuds, for the majority of buyers, it all boils down to how much they are willing to pay. Some customers are not bothered parting with $249 of their hard-earned cash for these high-quality goods, while others seem to find solace in picking excellent value. On Amazon, the previous-generation AirPods Pro 2 are 32 percent off, or a $79 delta compared to the AirPods Pro 3, so which one will you pick?
A large percentage of customers will pick the AirPods Pro 3 solely for the audio quality and battery life upgrade, but the AirPods Pro 2 continue to be a favorite, and here is why
The AirPods Pro 2 are currently listed on the online retailer for $169.99, making it one of the lowest prices that we have seen, though certainly not the absolute lowest. However, you cannot argue that with the introduction of the AirPods Pro 3, buyers now see more reason to get the previous-generation wireless earbuds since the $249 figure of the newer version appears to be on the steeper side.
With the AirPods Pro 2, you still get that custom H2 chip that improves ANC, wireless connectivity range and audio quality, while the AirPods Pro 3 has upgraded foam-infused eartips that offer a better seal. Unfortunately, these will eventually wear off with time, so you have to turn your attention to other features.
For instance, Apple’s newest offerings have a heart-rate sensor and U2 chip for accurate tracking purposes, not to mention better battery life of up to 8 hours with ANC enabled and up to 10 hours with Transparency Mode active. However, before you hastily move to purchase the AirPods Pro 3, know that the latter’s wireless charging case holds a smaller charge than the AirPods Pro 2’s accessory.
Where the AirPods Pro 2 could last for up to 30 hours with the wireless charging case, that runtime has been reduced to 25 hours on the AirPods Pro 3, so while the latter last for longer on a single battery run, you are getting fewer charges. Then again, some of you will not have issues forking over that $79 extra to obtain a few upgrades, but keep in mind that you will not get a charging cable with the AirPods Pro 3.
For those wanting to skip a purchase this year, remember that Apple is not taking a breather and is already working on its new H3 chip, which could debut in the AirPods 5 in 2026. If that was not exciting enough, the technology giant could be adding cameras to the AirPods Pro 4.
