Oppo, OnePlus, and Vivo are making some really promising foldable phones, but a new rumor has suggested that this could soon come to an end. Why is it ending despite the companies being relatively successful in the foldable market? Well, the companies saw a significant drop in their market share last year, which will cause them to exit the market. And if that happens, then most of the share will go to Samsung and Huawei.
OnePlus, Oppo, and Vivo do not need to exit the foldable market despite what rumor claims
Speaking of Huawei, the rumor also talks that aside from OnePlus and other companies exiting the market, Huawei will be working on a 10-inch double-folding smartphone or a tablet. The device could be released as early as June this year. However, given Huawei's situation, the device might not make it out to all the international markets. In addition to that, we also learned that Samsung has completed the development of a rollable display, and it certainly is a good thing given the growing demand for foldable devices.
Honestly, the rumor sounds sketchy at best, and I currently don't see a reason why companies like Oppo, OnePlus, and Vivo would leave the markets like that. Of course, the foldable market is still growing and is in dire need of competition. So, it would make no sense to exit, especially after a lot of reviewers called the OnePlus Open one of the best foldable phones of last year. For me, the OnePlus Open was even better than everything else that the market had to offer, even the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Of course, it is too early to say anything about the future of these foldable phones and the companies. Still, I would highly suggest that you take this with a grain of salt because such rumors fly in the tech world almost every single day. If all things go accordingly, we could see the sequel to OnePlus Open later this year.
