It's not every day we see Frankenstein tech, but when we do, it's a funny sight. A Reddit user has decided to do something that I did not think would be possible, wherein the user paired a smartwatch with a controller and created a makeshift console. What's even more interesting is that the smartwatch in question is the Apple Watch Ultra, which runs the full version of Android. This setup is complemented by a Dual Sense controller. It's a weird combination, I know, but it works really well.
You can play Game Boy Advance games on your Apple Watch Ultra, but we would advise against it
At the heart of this weird concoction is an Apple Watch Ultra, a Dual Sense controller, and My Boy! GBA emulator. The Reddit user is using this setup to play Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, which is a pretty solid choice, I have to be honest. Now, the experience might not be optimal for everyone, considering the small screen, but hey, for the sake of entertainment, everything is possible. You can check how the game looks running on a small screen.
As fun as it looks, I don't think it is going to be an ideal situation. If you are looking to enjoy GBA games on your smart device, there are several ways to make that happen, and most of them don't require you to jerry-rig your Apple Watch Ultra as emulation is very well possible, and you can get the job done with that.
However, the one thing that remains to be the most impressive is the fact that the Reddit user managed to get Android running on Apple Watch Ultra. Remember, this is the full version of Android we are talking about. I am not talking about Wear OS, which would have made more sense, but the Reddit user decided to go the extra mile.
If you are still looking to enjoy all these old games on handheld devices, I would highly suggest that you look towards emulation on your smartphones because that would make a lot of sense, as a smartphone surely offers a screen that is much larger than the screen on Apple Watch Ultra and I am a strong believer of immersion, and it is something that everyone should go for. Honestly, I think this is more impressive than the time someone managed to get Red Dead Redemption 2 on a Redmagic 9 Pro, simply because here, we are looking at a much less powerful and smaller device running a game.
