Xbox has announced it will once again host a showcase during Geoff Keighley's annual Summer Game Fest event, which is set to return this year from June 5 to 8 in Los Angeles. Xbox's event will take place on June 7, 2026, at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BT, and just like last year's show was followed by a dedicated look at The Outer Worlds 2, this year's show will be followed by a dedicated look at Gears of War E-Day.

The showcase will be what we've come to expect - a look at gameplay from upcoming titles we know about, some brand new games getting revealed for the first time, spanning across both first-party Xbox Game Studios titles and Microsoft's third-party partners.

The Coalition will then take the stage to dive into Gears of War E-Day. The event will include "new details, gameplay and insights" into E-Day, which The Coalition has called its "most ambitious game yet." Last year, despite having a dedicated showcase coming up right after the main show, Obsidian Entertainment kicked off the 2025 event with the release date reveal for The Outer Worlds 2.

If this year's event is anything like that, then we'll hopefully go into the Gears of War E-Day Direct knowing when we'll be able to get our hands on the upcoming prequel. A sponsorship with the WWE suggests September may be the launch month.

Last year's showcase featured a look at 24 games, several of which have already made their way to PCs and consoles (if they weren't already available). Following that showcase, Xbox said that it had 40+ projects in active development, and that everything shown in last year's showcase would be "continuing on."

More than half of the titles shown at last year's showcase are already out on PC and console platforms. That leaves a few titles from last year's event that could make another appearance, along with several other titles, some of which we found out about after the summer event, like Halo Campaign Evolved, and others we still don't know about, to potentially show up at this year's event.
