More specifications for the LG 32U990A have been detailed, which now confirms VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification.
LG 32U990A to Boast 450 Nits of Brightness in SDR Mode and Up To 600 Nits in HDR Mode
The 6K monitor, 32U990A, which LG unveiled in the beginning of this year is claimed to be the world's first 6K (6144x3456) monitor with the Thunderbolt 5 interface. Not much was revealed on its specs initially but today, we have some more crucial information on the monitor, which includes its HDR certification. According to IT Home, the LG 32U990A will carry VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification and, therefore, can boost up to 600 Nits of brightness in HDR mode. However, the monitor doesn't have any LED/miniLED zone dimming to deliver a true HDR experience.
The monitor is already bright enough in the SDR mode, featuring up to 450 nits of brightness, which makes it a good display for content creation, productivity, and general use as well. The LG 32U990A boasts a wide color gamut, encompassing color spaces such as 99.5% Adobe RGB and 98.5% DCI-P3, and delivers 10-bit color depth for exceptional color reproduction. The 32U990A has a 31.5-inch of screen size and uses a Nano IPS panel for better color accuracy and contrast.
With a standard refresh rate of 60Hz, the Thunderbolt 5 port on the monitor is capable of easily carrying uncompressed data to the LG 32U990A, as it provides a transfer speed of 80 Gbps in each direction. While the DP 2.1 UHBR20 would be more than enough for the monitor, with a Thunderbolt 5 port, the monitor brings more versatility and can do multiple jobs simultaneously. This includes carrying the display signals as well as connecting multiple devices simultaneously without affecting the visual quality.
The Thunderbolt 5 port delivers 96W Power Delivery for fast charging devices, and of course, one can connect multiple peripherals on the monitor as there are four more USB Type-C ports on the I/O, bringing more connectivity options. LG hasn't shared any information on its pricing, and availability, but some reports suggest a price tag of $1,300 and retail launch this month.
