Windrose Reportedly Outsold Crimson Desert in April With an Estimated 1.7M Copies in Just Two Weeks

April had a few major game releases across PC and consoles with games like Pragmata, Saros, and Invincible Vs. all arriving within its 30 days, but a new report from Alinea Analytics points to only one of those games reaching near the top of the sales charts. While Pragmata reportedly made the top-five games sold across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox, it was the recently released pirate adventure Windrose that landed at the top spot, with March's Crimson Desert slightly behind in second place.

According to the report, despite only being available on Steam, Windrose was the best-selling game of the month across the three aforementioned platforms. It has hit 1.7 million copies sold since its launch into Early Access on April 17 to become the best-selling game of the month, but it wasn't the far and away front runner.

Crimson Desert continued its strong sales momentum and reached 1.6 million copies sold for the month, just behind Windrose, while EA Sports FC 26 came in at 1.4 million copies sold just behind Crimson Desert in third.

Only then does Pragmata make the list at fourth place as the only other game in the top five (along with Windrose) to be a new release in April and make the top-five best-selling games across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox. Slay the Spire 2 rounded out the top five in fifth place.

It's worth noting that these numbers are sales estimates, and that despite landing in fourth place on these charts, Pragmata still had an incredibly strong launch as it just yesterday reached 2 million copies sold across all platforms. It's also worth pointing out that Nintendo Switch 2 sales aren't included in this chart, which does skew the placements slightly against Pragmata.

That's not to suggest the Switch 2 sales, if properly accounted for, would've had Pragmata in first place, just that these numbers don't show a complete picture. That said, it'll be interesting to see where Windrose lands as we get deeper into the year, and if it'll be the latest early access darling to take the world by storm far ahead of its 1.0 launch.
