Apple to release iOS 18.3 in coming weeks with major features and improvements

Apple aims to gradually roll out its AI feature for the iPhone, which could delay some major features in iOS 19. Apple Intelligence is great, but the slow release is preventing users from being too excited as some pretty nifty and premium features of the platform are still missing from the mix. While Apple has released a developer beta of iOS 18.3, check out when the company will release the final version of the update for all compatible iPhone models.

Apple will potentially release the second iOS 18.3 developer beta this week, which is in line with last year's update schedule

iOS 18.3 will be a major update, bringing new Apple Intelligence enhancements and updates for the iPhone. Currently, the update rests in the beta phase, which means that the company will take its time before seeding it out to the public. To know when Apple will release the iOS 18.3 update for the iPhone, we must observe past trends for iOS 17.3 betas.

Apple released the first beta of iOS 17.3 on December 13, 2023, which is more or less similar to iOS 18.3. The second beta was released on January 3 of last year, and the third developer beta was released on January 9, which shows that the company took a consistent turn when it came to the beta release cycle. The release candidate version of iOS 17.3 was seeded a week later, on January 17, and the update was finally made available to the public on January 22, 2024. This shows us the company's timeline for the updates, which are usually released in the same order and in a similar timeframe.

In the case of iOS 18.3, we can expect a similar timeline, but the exact release date could be different. Prior beta releases also show that the company will release the second beta of iOS 18.2 either this week or the next. If the second beta is scheduled for next week, we must consider that Apple is a bit late if it wants to keep up with its usual release cycle. The company typically releases new software updates on Monday or Tuesday, but we have seen in the past that the company has offered its latest versions of iOS on later days of the week as well.

We suspect that the company will release the second beta of iOS 18.3 this week, and if it does, the final release will take place on more or less the same day as last year. If the company decides to wait until next week, then the update could see fit to arrive a bit later than January 22.

iOS 18.3 will be a major update, which will include a tweaked icon for the Playground app, bug fixes for the Writing Tools API and Genmoji, dark mode for the Camera Control menu in Accessibility, and much more. We will let you guys know when the update will be available to the general public, so stay tuned.
