Apple's Vision Pro pre-orders went live today, and delivery dates have been pushed back to March in the first hour. The company has also shared technical details of the headset, which previously rested in the rumor mill. It has now been discovered that the Vision Pro headset weighs just as much as the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Additionally, the device features dual 4K microLED displays, which are capped at a 100Hz refresh rate.
Apple's latest Vision Pro headset weighs 650 grams, excluding the battery pack
If you have pre-ordered the Vision Pro for yourself, the headset will weigh almost as much as the bigger iPad Pro. The company has confirmed today that the Vision Pro weighs around 650 grams. However, the headset's weight also depends on the Light Seal configuration you opt for. The Vision Pro battery pack weighs 353 grams or 12.5 ounces. Excluding the battery, the headset alone weighs 650 grams, comparable to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which weighs 682 grams.
Apple did not share the weight of the Vision Pro headset at launch. The Meta Quest 3 is lighter than the Vision Pro, weighing 516 grams. However, the Meta Quest Pro is substantially heavier than Apple's headset, with 722 grams. Note that the Meta Quest Pro has a battery attached to the back of the headband for a more ergonomic fit.
Besides the headset's weight, the Vision Pro features dual 4K microLED displays. Apple's headset only supports a 100Hz refresh rate, unlike the iPad Pro. However, the refresh rate is still good enough for what the headset is made for - productivity, entertainment, and gaming. However, we are unfamiliar with what kind of games the company has planned for the headset.
If you have pre-ordered the Vision Pro headset today, it will be available starting February 2. However, we suspect some customers would have to wait a little longer since demand is high. Additionally, we are unfamiliar with the market feedback for the headset and how it will compete against Meta's Quest lineup. We will keep you guys updated on the latest, so be sure to stick around.
