Maintaining design consistency has always been Apple’s forte, even when it comes to software. During the WWDC 2025 keynote, the company introduced ‘Liquid Glass,’ which brings multiple visual changes to the table and will become the new standard going forward. The company’s tvOS 26 was recently previewed, and it comes with the same update, with the aesthetics makeover coming to compatible Apple TV models.
The tvOS 26 update includes changes to Apple Music Sing and enhancements to profile switching. The design change leverages real-time rendering to refract surrounding colours from the content’s background into other UI elements. The Apple TV app now features cinematic poster art, redesigned navigation, and enhanced profile switching that personalizes recommendations and Watchlists as soon as the system wakes.
The Control Center also receives an update, where it becomes easier to adjust settings like audio, sleep timers, or lighting scenes without missing out on your favorite content. Apple Music Sing has also been upgraded in tvOS 26, allowing you to use your iPhone as a handheld microphone to start a sing-along party. Your friends can also join in using their iPhones and add songs to the karaoke queue, while reacting with on-screen emoji.
The new tvOS 26 update also introduces a new way to commence Profile switching. The change automatically shows the profile chooser UI when the Apple TV wakes from sleep. This makes it easier to dive into a person’s individual watchlist in the TV app. New Aerial screensavers have been added, and you can pick any AirPlay speaker as the permanent speaker for Apple TV, which was a feature previously reserved for HomePod speakers only.
Other changes include FaceTime gaining Contact Posters, multilingual Live Captions, and smart call notifications tied to user profiles. The new tvOS 26 update will launch later this year and will likely arrive with the other platforms.
