Tim Cook appears to have taken the opportunity presented by Apple's ongoing 50th anniversary celebrations to induce some much-needed clarity to his oft-rumored exit plans, suggesting in a fairly unequivocal manner that he is staying put at Apple's helm for the foreseeable future.

Apple's Tim Cook: "I love what I do deeply"

Apple's Tim Cook has refuted rumors of his impending resignation. Do note that some reports in late 2025 had suggested that Cook's departure from Apple's helm might come as soon as this year. In the interview, Cook declared unambiguously:

"No, I didn’t say that. I haven’t said that. I love what I do deeply. Twenty-eight years ago, I walked into Apple, and I’ve loved every day of it since."

Cook went on to note:

"[I] can’t imagine life without Apple."

Of course, Reuters and the Financial Times had both reported back in late 2025 that Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, was likely to step down in 2026 after well over a decade at the helm of one of the largest corporate behemoths in the world.

What's more, the Financial Times had gone so far as to suggest that Apple was likely to have a new CEO before its developer conference in June 2026, with the VP of Hardware Engineering, John Ternus, perceived as the favored frontrunner at the time to replace Cook.

Bear in mind that Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, all the way back in November 2025, had directly contradicted the earlier reporting by Reuters and the Financial Times, noting that "Tim Cook isn't retiring immediately."

Gurman had gone on to declare at the time that Tim Cook was likely to continue as Apple's CEO at least through the current US Presidency. This essentially means Cook is slated to remain at the helm of the tech giant until at least 2028. Of course, by that time, Cook will have turned 70.
