Threads arrived earlier this year and took the internet by storm. It was launched when Twitter was going through a turmoil of its own. A lot of people, for good reason, called it a Twitter clone, and despite having strong backing, it lacked a lot of basic features like the ability to delete your account.
Threads' ability to delete your account without hurting your Instagram is finally here, but isn't it a bit too late?
The reason behind that is simple - Threads was created as an app that relied on Instagram. You would sign up for the platform using your Instagram account, and then you would be able to post whatever you would like. However, deleting the account required you to delete your Instagram account, which is something that not a lot of people were happy about.
However, that changes as Instagram head Adam Mosseri has posted on his Threads account that you can finally leave the platform without having to delete your Instagram account, which is definitely great for people who have been wanting a way out but couldn't.
if you want to delete your Threads account, all you have to do is head over to Settings > Account > Delete or Deactivate Profile. You can just choose the delete option, and you will be good to go. As always, deleting your profile is something that cannot be reversed, whereas deactivating is something that you can go back to.
I am glad that Threads is finally getting the features and then some, but the thing is that the app's popularity is still something that a lot of people are not sure about. I mean, when it was launched, everyone on Twitter and other platforms was talking about it, and then it just disappeared, and we have only been seeing the company put more resources into the platform to make it better, including launching a website. At this point, one can only hope that, somehow, the platform ends up staying relevant, especially after you look at the fact that despite everything it went through, Twitter is still going strong and is still relevant.
