Pixel Watch 3 leak suggests display upgrade

The Made by Google event is merely a week away and has been getting quite the hype for the wide array of devices rolling out at the big launch. The Pixel 9 series has been in the limelight for some time, with speculations giving away key information on the upcoming lineup. The Pixel Watch 3 is set on being revealed alongside, and although it is not to receive major upgrades according to earlier reports, it does include some noticeable improvements from its predecessor. A recent leak now focuses on the significant change brought forth in the upcoming smartwatch.

The Pixel Watch 3 shares similarities with its predecessor but would come with a display upgrade

The Pixel Watch 3 will launch alongside the Pixel 9 series on August 13th, and the rumor mill seems to be churning in full swing about the upcoming devices. Although the Pixel Watch 3 shares similarities with the Pixel Watch 2 and does not have massive upgrades, a new leak suggests it includes some improvements from its predecessor.

As reported by Android Headlines, the Pixel Watch 3 will share the same processor as its predecessor and will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 5100 chipset (SW5100) and Cortex M33 co-processor. It will also sport the same 2GB of RAM and 32GB of flash storage, so performance will not see any upgrades this year. The Pixel Watch 3 seems to remain unchanged, but the display improvements are noteworthy.

The new display will have a 60Hz refresh rate, which is a huge jump from the previous model's 30Hz refresh rate. This would mean that we would see more fluid and responsive visuals. It also comes with an adaptive approach, where the refresh saves power by adjusting according to the requirement: 1Hz for Always on Display and 60Hz for when you are actively using your phone.

The Pixel Watch 3 will be launched in two sizes: a regular model and an XL version with a bigger battery and a larger display. The battery capacity for the two sizes has only marginally improved from the Pixel Watch 2, standing at 307 mAh for the base model and 425 mAh for the 45mm version. Both models will have a 24-hour battery life.

Besides the refresh rate improvements, we expect the Pixel Watch 3 to come with new features such as Cardio Load and real-time advice, as well as extend Ultra-Wideband support that users have long anticipated. More features and upgrades will emerge as the event date approaches, and we will be sure to report everything, so stay tuned.
