Motorola has been making some really great smartphones for a long time now, but most of them have been focused on budget users. However, today, the company introduced the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, which will be a great choice for those who are looking for something on the higher end.
Of course, if the phone has the word "Ultra" in it, it means that it is a higher-end device and will deliver top performance. The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is packed with some decent hardware, including the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which will make this device a worthy purchase for those who are looking for a good phone.
Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is the phone you want to get if you are looking for a sleek, feature-rich phone
Now that we know the processor that powers the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, let's look at everything else you are getting with the phone. On the front, you are going to find a 6.7-inch Super HD pOLED display with a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220. You are also going to get a super smooth refresh rate of 144Hz. The panel has 10-bit colors with 100% DCI-P3 color space. Motorola went the extra mile and ensured that the panel has gone through Pantone validation as well as Pantone Skintone certification, so you are getting the best experience when it comes to enjoying colors that are not only vivid but also true to life.
The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is available in 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. You can buy the phone in either 512GB or 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. There is also a microSD card expansion of up to 1TB, which is insane, but hey, I would love to see this on more devices because it makes the experience so much better.
Moving onto the back, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra comes with a pretty good camera setup that has everything you would need from a decent smartphone camera. You get a 50-megapixel primary 1/1.3-inch sensor with f/1.6, 1.2µm pixels, PDAF and OIS. There is also a 50-megapixel ultra-wide shooter with f/2.0 aperture, 0.64µm pixels, and 122° FoV. The camera can also offer autofocus and has a really low minimum focusing distance if you are looking to get some cool macro shots. Then you have a 64-megapixel telephoto shooter with f/2.4 aperture, 1.4µm pixels, autofocus, and OIS, capable of providing 3x optical zoom.
On the front, you are going to get access to a 50-megapixel shooter with f/1.9 aperture, 0.64µm pixels, and autofocus. Needless to say, if you are looking to get this phone for its cameras, it really is a great choice, and you will not be disappointed.
The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is powered by a 4,500 mAh battery. You also have 125W TurboPower wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. However, you will need a Motorola TurboPower 50W wireless charging stand, which is a separate purchase.
If you are looking to get your hands on the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, you are going to have to spend €999 (~$1,063), which honestly is a steep price considering the phone is running Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, but I have a feeling that the overall user experience will make up for the price. The phone is going to be available in Nordic Wood, Forest Grey, and Peach Fuzz. The latter two colorways come with vegan leather backs, and the phone is only going to be available in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Oceania. However, the company did claim that it is going to look towards bringing the phones to the North American region as well, but we are not sure when that is going to happen.
Overall, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is a compelling device for anyone who is looking for a decent enough experience. If you want a smartphone that gets the job done and still offers plenty in terms of performance, then this phone is the one that you should be going for.
