The Galaxy S24 Ultra Survives Some Pretty Painful Drops, Sand Test Shows the Gorilla Glass Armor Emerge Scratchless

If I am to crown the smartphone of the year, it will most definitely be the Galaxy S24 Ultra. My love for Samsung aside, I think this is one of the most complete smartphones available on the market. It shows that Samsung has finally perfected the design that it had been trying to go for since the launch of the Galaxy S20 series.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra emerges victorious from a drop and scratch test

The Galaxy S24 Ultra brings a lot of goodness to the table, including stuff like a titanium frame, a completely flat display, powerful internals, and the prowess of AI. But one thing that the company did not talk enough about is Gorilla Glass Armor. We have already seen it perform really well when it comes to handling reflections. Now, PBKreviews has put the latest flagship to the test, and honestly, I am surprised at how well the new Gorilla Glass Armor handles reflections and provides better scratch resistance.

As you can see in the drop and scratch test above, the Galaxy S24 Ultra drops from what I would call heart-stopping heights. I am tall, and if my phone drops from that height, I would want to sit down and have a glass of cold water. The phone manages to survive except for a small crack on the screen that does not hinder the functionality of the screen or the phone itself. The source reveals that the Gorilla Glass Armor does not show any difference as far as the strength of the glass is concerned.

In the next test, we see the Galaxy S24 Ultra's screen being covered in sand and gravel. Now, if you don't know, sand and gravel are two of the biggest reasons why phone screens or glass, in general, scratches. Thankfully, despite the screen being rubbed by sand and gravel, the phone screen comes out scratchless, which honestly is impressive because normally, I would expect a myriad of scratches all over the device, but clearly, that is not the case here.

Overall, the Galaxy S24 Ultra performs as expected - Samsung has made it their hobby to make smartphones that can stand the wear and tear. If you are worried that your phone might not be able to hold up, you can look at this test and see for yourself. I would still advise you to use a good case and a screen protector if you plan on using your phone for a longer period of time.
