In the latest financial report, Take Two Interactive announced a Battleborn delay of about three months: instead of releasing on February 9 as previously planned, the game will now launch on May 3.
The First Person Shooter/MOBA hybrid in development by Gearbox is currently in a closed technical test, and you can sign up to try the game at this address, though obviously there's an NDA in place. There will also be an Open Beta, which will first be available for PlayStation 4 in 2016 as announced during Sony's Paris Games Week Press Conference.
Battleborn features 25 playable characters, a campaign mode which can be played either solo or cooperatively with other four friends and obviously multiplayer, which will have three modes:
- Capture: It’s classic capture-and-control showdown between two teams of heroes. But more badass. Because we said so.
- Meltdown: Each team has to march waves of their minions to their death into the chompers at the ends of lanes on the map. Sounds like fun, right? Think of it like a homicidal robotic sport. You score points for every minion who throws themselves into the incinerator and the team with the most scrap metal, wins.
- Incursion: Playing Incursion, teams of heroes must defend their base from waves of AI-controlled minions. Meanwhile, you’re working together alongside your own minions to lead them to your opponent’s base. Then destroy it.
Does this Battleborn delay bother you? Well, at least the February schedule has a little more space now with the delays of Battleborn and Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, though Electronic Arts just announced that Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is now scheduled for February 23.
