T-Mobile leading in rural 5G

Telecommunication service providers have been working arduously to expand their services further, improve their network coverage, and offer better bundles. While Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile remain the top players in the U.S., offering good coverage and expanding premium features becomes difficult in far-flung areas. T-Mobile has, however, left the other two big players behind when it comes to its 5G networks in rural areas, and it has achieved this through a number of strategic strategies.

If you live in a rural area of the U.S., you have nothing to worry about, as T-Mobile has you covered

People in remote locations often struggle with limited carrier options and poor signals, but this is about to change. As per a new report by Ookla, T-Mobile seems to be leading when it comes to mobile coverage across the U.S., especially in rural areas. The report highlights how T-Mobile is able to extend reliable coverage to these far-flung areas when networks or services are often compromised through the widespread 5G network it has established.

While 5G served to be a game-changer for people in urban areas, rural areas have not been able to reap the benefits of the service. Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile were all set to bring better coverage to these areas, but T-Mobile has taken everyone by surprise with its aggressive approach, which has led to the company reaching in a better way and performing greatly in comparison to the competition.

This has been made possible due to the company's extensive deployment of low-band and mid-band 5G networks offering better coverage and reliability than the rest. Due to this strategic direction, the company has the largest percentage of users on 5G networks in both urban and rural markets. T-Mobile's 5G strategy can be termed methodical, as it leverages the 600MHz low-band spectrum for Extended Range 5G and is able to offer broader coverage as a result.

It was mainly the Sprint acquisition in 2020 that served as a game-changer, allowing the company to get into the 2.5GHz mid-band spectrum and offer even better speed and service. Due to T-Mobile's Ultra Capacity 5G, the company now covers around 300 million people across the U.S. The telecommunication service provider is not going to stop here as it has an upcoming $4.4 billion acquisition of US cellular spectrum and customers, which would help extend its services to more areas with access to 4.5 million customers and retail stores.

While other big players are also determined to escalate their rural efforts, it seems that T-Mobile has a tight grip on 5G dominance with its strategy and ability to manage both speed and range.
