Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel are hitting Nintendo Switch systems next month, Nintendo confirmed today.

The collection, including the two games originally released on Wii years back, will launch on Nintendo Switch on October 2, 2025, worldwide with full Nintendo Switch 2 compatibility, as confirmed during today's Nintendo Direct. While the retail release will include both games, they will also be available for purchase separately on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Given how Super Mario Galaxy was already released on Nintendo Switch as part of the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection, no other improvement in terms of visuals should be expected, also judging from the trailer, although the two games will get some sort of additional content in the form of new storybook pages for Rosalina's story. A physical version of the storybook will also launch in the future, but it will not include the new pages created for the upcoming collection.

With the next Mario movie being Super Mario Galaxy, it's not surprising that Nintendo is bringing back the two entries in the series. The re-release of the second entry in the series is especially welcome, as it is an excellent game that has been stuck for way too long on the Wii which more players should definitely experience.
