Valve revealed the Top 100 Steam best sellers for 2016. This was a surprise of sorts since it never really happened before.

The Steam best sellers chart is a bit unusual, though. First of all, it's based on generated revenue rather than copies sold. Most importantly, though, the games are divided into categories: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Other than that, they're also listed in random order inside those categories. Still, the Platinum category does include some of the best games released in the past two years on PC with the notable exceptions of Valve's Dota 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive, two games that have massive communities on Steam. Surprisingly, there's also No Man's Sky among the Top 12 titles, even though reportedly a lot of players asked for a refund.
