Despite Starfield's arrival on PS5 landing directly in the middle of the pack when it comes to sales numbers compared to other recent ports of Xbox-published games to PlayStation, its sales were enough to bring the game back to the top of the United States sales charts. Its weekly sales charts, that is.
Circana executive director and video game industry analyst Mat Piscatella reported that for the week ending on April 11, 2026, which was the week during which Starfield arrived on PS5, it was the best-selling game in the US for the weekly sales charts. Not only did the PS5 arrival bring it back to the top of the charts, but it was the first time Starfield had been back there since the game initially launched all the way back in 2023.
What's perhaps more disappointing, though, about its time away from the top of the charts is that the week during which it topped the US sales charts just ahead of its initial launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC was actually the week before it arrived. Which means that it's heavy pre-order sales followed after an initial wave of positive critical feedback from the first batch of reviews that hit on August 30, 2023. So once players got their hands on it a week later and public sentiment around the game turned sour, it didn't return to the top of the charts again.
Until now, that is, which isn't the most surprising considering that its PS5 arrival also coincided with the launch of its Free Lanes update and the the launch of the Terran Armada DLC expansion.
Outside of the new update and expansion, it's also worth noting that the PS5 version of Starfield is a quality port through-and-through (minus the crashes and bugs that it arrived with, which Bethesda is fixing).
