[UPDATE - April 14, 2026] GSC Game World has now unveiled the content that will be added to STALKER 2 in the free Sealed Truth update, which will go live alongside the Cost of Hope DLC. Find out all the info at this link.

[ORIGINAL STORY] During the March 2026 Xbox Partner Preview showcase, Ukrainian developer GSC Game World announced STALKER 2: Cost of Hope, the first story expansion for the open world first-person shooter game. The studio describes Cost of Hope as a massive expansion that is set to add "dozens" of hours of nonlinear gameplay when it debuts this Summer on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S and X.

In STALKER 2: Cost of Hope, players take the role of Skif once again as he navigates events unfolding alongside Heart of Chornobyl. After installing the DLC, a signal on the PDA will trigger the new storyline as the game unfolds. As always, the player's choices will shape what happens next, and the consequences could affect not just the Zone but places far beyond it.

In the narrative, Duty, one of the oldest factions, views the Zone as a threat that must be contained and eliminated. In contrast, Freedom believes the Zone is a gift to be explored and harnessed for the greater good. For a time, this tension was held at bay by a fragile peace, but that time is over now.

STALKER 2: Cost of Hope introduces two new regions to explore. One of them is the iconic Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which was abandoned and locked away for decades and is now calling Stalkers back in. The second region is the Iron Forest, which features maze-like paths and plenty of uncharted locations to discover along the way. Each region features its own hub, quests, and activities. As you'd expect from an expansion, there will also be new weapons and gear.

Pricing of the DLC was not revealed at this time, though it will be included with the Ultimate Edition.

GSC Game World also shared that STALKER 2 expansions will be released in installments, with Cost of Hope serving as the middle chapter of the so-called 'second trilogy'. Together with a future story DLC, the details of which will be revealed at a later time, it will form a new, expansive narrative arc within the post-apocalyptic saga. In theory, a multiplayer mode is also expected to be added as a free update, but there has been no news of that for a long time.
