Amid various game reveals and announcements, Sony also introduced its new Pulse Elevate wireless speakers during yesterday's State of Play broadcast.
The Pulse Elevate will be released next year and will support PlayStation 5, PC, Mac, and the PlayStation Portal remote play handheld device (which we reviewed here). Each speaker is equipped with studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers that Sony says deliver lifelike sound across the entire audible spectrum. The speakers also feature built-in woofers that allegedly provide rich bass tones for a fuller soundscape. Exclusively on the PlayStation 5 console, Sony's driver technology enhances immersion in games that support Tempest 3D AudioTech by accurately positioning audio cues.
The Pulse Elevate even include a built-in mic (in the right speaker) with AI-enhanced noise rejection to identify and remove unwanted background noise, providing crystal-clear voice communication without having to put a headset on.
The speakers are powered by PlayStation Link technology to achieve ultra-low latency and multi-device lossless connectivity. They are also compatible with Bluetooth devices, so owners can simultaneously listen to in-game audio via a PlayStation Link-connected device and music, voice chat, and more via a separate Bluetooth-enabled device. The Pulse Elevate also feature a PlayStation Link USB adapter compatible with USB-C ports.
With a built-in rechargeable battery, users can take the speakers on the go for gaming with a PlayStation Portal Remote Player via PlayStation Link or with a mobile device via Bluetooth. The included charging docks make it easy to jump back into a desktop gaming setup. Lastly, the speakers have built-in volume controls. Players can further personalize their audio experience on PS5 or PC with the option to adjust EQ, sidetone, volume, and mic mute settings via system menus, though Sony added that these options won't be available at launch on PC. In all likelihood, they'll get added with a software update.
No pricing info was released at this time. The Pulse Elevate will be available in Midnight Black and White colors, though supplies for White will be more limited.
