Thankfully, this drawback has not prevented Qualcomm’s latest and greatest from pushing healthy framerates that still bring various gaming PCs to their knees, and it is none other than the critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2. A new video shows that the AAA title that launched in 2018 can run well on a Snapdragon 8 Elite, but the visual quality needs to take a hit.

A video uploaded to the Chinese platform Bilibili was spotted by @NoI_Revenant, providing crystal clear evidence that the Snapdragon 8 Elite can easily run Red Dead Redemption 2. In the comments, it is mentioned that Winlater was used to emulate the game, as it can deliver an above-satisfactory experience without hammering the framerate too much. As for the video settings, there is no proof that Red Dead Redemption 2 is running at the highest settings, but the person who uploaded the clip mentions that the game was probably running at the lowest quality.
Even then, it is remarkable how far smartphone chipsets have come, and more evidence of that comes from our previous reporting, which mentioned that the Snapdragon 8 Elite can obtain a whopping 160FPS in Red Dead Redemption, which is the first installment. However, remember that the same game gives the RTX 4070 zero problems when running at the 8K resolution, but it is still a worthy achievement for the Snapdragon 8 Elite. A more impressive feat was that the SoC managed to run Cyberpunk 2077 at 60FPS but at low settings.
