KONAMI has remained silent about the release date of the Silent Hill 2 remake. However, several clues point to an inbound announcement.
To begin with, the backend of the game's Steam page is now constantly receiving updates. Yesterday, according to SteamDB, it was updated with achievement languages in Brazilian, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Spanish, and Ukrainian.
This follows the recent rating of the Silent Hill 2 remake by South Korea's Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC), which has often provided evidence of upcoming game launches. Moreover, as spotted on Reddit, Mexican retailer Sanborns had listed the game on its website for a May 30 launch. The date has since been changed, but it's impossible to know if they got an email from KONAMI or if it was simply a mistake on their end.
Developer Bloober Team has previously hinted that the marketing campaign would be decided by KONAMI, although Bloober CEO Piotr Babieno said in January it would begin soon. Indeed, at the very end of the month, Silent Hill 2 fans were treated to the first combat trailer of the massively anticipated remake. However, that video didn't exactly dispel the doubts many had about Bloober's involvement. The Polish studio has never focused much on the action component in its horror games, and yet KONAMI said in early 2023 that improving the combat system and enemy AI was one of the main goals of this remake.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the Silent Hill 2 remake will be released only for PlayStation 5 and PC. Fans of the classic survival horror game originally released in 2001 for PlayStation 2 can also look forward to Return to Silent Hill, an adaptation of the game featuring director Christophe Gans and actors Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson in the lead roles of James Sunderland and his wife Mary.
