The ShadPS4 PlayStation 4 emulator has quickly garnered a lot of attention from the gaming community for having made the Bloodborne on PC dream a reality. However, the development team did not rest on its laurels and has continued to update the emulator to bring more PlayStation 4 exclusives to PC, such as Gravity Rush 2. These updates have culminated in the v0.16.0 release, the biggest update to date for the PS4 emulator.

"The ShadPS4 team is excited to announce the release of shadPS4 v0.16.0, our largest update to date," the announcement for the new version of the emulator reads. "This release delivers major improvements across emulation accuracy, graphics, audio, input handling, user experience, platform support, and developer infrastructure."

The full update notes found on the emulator's official subreddit are packed with details of the improvements introduced in the latest version of the ShadPS4 emulator, which include:

The launch of the biggest update to date for the ShadPS4 emulator couldn't have come at a better time. Earlier this week, modder Serotoniner launched a second Bloodborne Remaster project coming after the one developed by fromsoftserve called BB Reborne, "a complete visual overhaul changing textures, lights, and material properties of the entire game, including DLC and Chalice Dungeons."

This new remaster doesn't just stop at improving the original game's visuals with upscaled textures to double their resolution, optimized texture mipmaps and LODs, and reworked global illumination. It also features an optional rebalance of the final main-game bosses to better align with the DLC expansion. This is a very nice touch, as the jump in difficulty from the base game to The Old Hunters content is significant, and the base game otherwise does little to prepare the player for the ultimate challenges it brings.
