Sapphire has launched its Nitro+ X870EA motherboards and RX 9070 XT Nitro+ graphics card with PhantomLink connectors.

At Computex 2025, we had the chance to see Sapphire's latest PhantomLink, which consisted of new AM5 motherboards and RDNA 4 GPUs. The lineup featured the X870EA Nitro+ motherboards and the Radeon RX 9070 XT Nitro+ graphics cards.

Both products are high-end designs and feature the new PhantomLink "BTF" connectors, which operate on the 12V-2x6 standard, delivering seamless power to graphics cards without requiring a 16-pin connector cable. This offers peace of mind to users since they don't have to worry about improper connections or bends that can lead to permanent damage when using a standard 16-pin cable.

So, looking at the two products, first up, we have the Sapphire X870E Nitro+ Phantomlink motherboards, which come in white "Polar Edition" and black colors. The motherboards are based on the AM5 socket & utilize the X870E chipset. The X870EA Nitro+ motherboards adopt a 16+2+1 (90A) power delivery, and can support up to 250W CPU TDPs with their dual 8-pin connectors. Memory support comes in the form of 8400 MT/s (OC+) speeds and up to 256 GB capacities, and there are four M.2 slots in a mix of Gen5 & Gen4 protocols.

The Sapphire X870EA Nitro+ motherboards feature a very nice heatsink layout and design. Each M.2 slot is ideally positioned, with the topmost slot being an EZ release. The top heatsink beside the IO covers has ARGB LEDs, and Sapphire also adds in some useful Power On/Off + Reset buttons alongwith a DEBUG LED. Other features include 40 Gbps USB Type-C, 20 Gbps USB Type-C with power delivery, Wi-Fi 7, and 5 Gbps LAN ports.

The main highlight of these motherboards is obviously the new PhantomLink connector, which can deliver over 800W of power to compatible graphics cards. Sapphire says that the GC_HPWR connector is not only compatible with its own PhantomLink cards but also open to other GC_HPWR designs, such as the ones from ASUS and Colorful.

As for the graphics card, the Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT Nitro+ PhantomLink is also available the same day. This graphics card features a custom PCB that enables up to 3060 MHz boost frequencies. The GPU features PTM7950 TIM, and the same triple-slot, triple-fan solution is used, offering great cooling, and all the while looking great.

Sapphire has currently listed the motherboards and graphics cards in China with no word on global availability.
