Samsung's new Micro RGB technology features very small LEDs that help displays achieve superior contrast for sharper image quality and enhanced color reproduction.
Samsung Showcases its Flagship 115-inch TV, Featuring the World's First Micro RGB Display, Deploying Sub-100 Micrometer RGB LEDs and AI-Driven Optimizations for Achieving Superior Visual Fidelity
Popular consumer electronics manufacturer, Samsung, has showcased its ultra-premium segment 115-inch TV based on the all-new Micro RGB technology. The new technology deploys LEDs measuring sub-100 micrometers in size, delivering enhanced visual quality by increasing contrast and enhancing color accuracy. Samsung's Micro RGB uses proprietary Micro RGB technology that arranges red, green, and blue LEDs in a dense grid behind an LCD panel.
Micro RGB achieves unprecedented precision in the control of micrometer-sized RGB LEDs, raising the bar for color accuracy and contrast in consumer displays,
With this launch, we’re setting the standard in the large-sized, ultra-premium TV market and reinforcing our commitment to next-generation display innovation.

Compared to mini LEDs, which are usually 100-200 micrometer-sized LEDs, the Micro RGB LEDs offer finer granularity and can be individually controlled, unlike the former, which are usually controlled in groups or zones. This distinction helps Micro RGB LEDs achieve full-color local dimming at a far finer granularity, improving the HDR precision and controlling blooming. This helps Micro RGB get closer to OLED in light control precision than any other technology used in modern LCDs (OLED offers per-pixel control, which is still far superior).
According to Samsung, the Micro RGB delivers a wider color gamut, roughly 100% BT.2020, higher contrast for deeper blacks, and up to 20% better energy efficiency compared to Mini-LEDs. The Samsung Micro RGB display has also received the Micro RGB Precision Color certification from the leading German Electrical Engineering certification institute, VDE (Verband der Elektrotechnik).
That said, the Micro RGB will utilize a dedicated Micro RGB AI Engine, which analyzes individual frames in real time for color and sound optimization. Another feature known as Micro RGB Color Booster Pro will be used for enhancing the dull tones for better color vibrancy. Samsung's Micro RGB will also carry Samsung Knox for enhanced security and will come with Samsung's 7-year Tizen OS Upgrade program, which offers free software updates.
The new Samsung Micro RGB has been launched in South Korea and will later be launched in the US, followed by a launch in other parts of the world for ultra-premium TV models.
