While the star attraction of the 'Galaxy Unpacked' event has always been Samsung's S-series, the accessories that the South Korean behemoth typically unveils at the margins of the said event do garner attention, especially when some of those accessories relate to the Galaxy Buds 4 series, which now bring an innovative head gesture support, and act as a remote shutter button in the camera app.
Behold the Galaxy Buds 4 Series
As expected, Samsung has now unveiled the Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds Pro 4, bringing a new design to the proverbial table, replete with flat metal stems, silicone tips for the Buds Pro 4, and an open-fit design on the standard model.
The charging case features a transparent lid, and the earbuds are now stowed away horizontally instead of the previous vertical storage design.
The Galaxy Buds 4 now support swipe, pinch, and tap gestures, with the swipe gesture limited to an engraved area on the stem. The Galaxy Buds Pro 4 also support head gestures: you can nod "yes" to answer calls or shake "no" to decline them. The support for these gestures also extends to Bixby. Of course, voice controls remain available.
Other features:
- The Interpreter Mode activates voice translations, with support for up to 22 languages.
- You can now access AI chatbots via the Galaxy Buds 4 without unlocking your phone first.
- Offers support for HD Voice and 24-bit/96KHz audio.
- The Galaxy Buds Pro 4 sport a tweeter as well as a woofer, ANC 2.0 tech with adaptive EQ, and an IP57 rating.
- The non-Pro variant has a single speaker, ANC 1.0 tech, and an IP54 rating.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro offer 7 hours of playback with ANC disabled and 6 hours of battery life with ANC enabled. The charging case enables up to 30 hours of ANC-free playback and 26 hours of ANC-enabled one.
The standard version offers a playback of 6 hours with ANC disabled and 5 hours with ANC enabled. The charging case brings playtime of up to 30 hours and 24 hours, respectively.
You can get the Galaxy Buds 4 for $179 and the Buds 4 Pro for $249. Pre-orders are now live with in-store availability slated for March 11.
