Samsung is working to ensure its next One UI 8.5 update is not only focused on intermittent changes but will help redefine the Galaxy devices by streamlining processes better. With the update, the tech giant is addressing a major point, and that is connectivity lags, by adding two AI-powered connectivity toggles.
One UI 8.5 to bring smarter Wi-Fi controls for seamless connectivity
Wi-Fi issues can be frustrating, leading to frequently frozen video chats, dropped calls, and awkward lags if you are in the middle of a gaming session. Samsung is determined to bring a seamless experience for its users, especially with its upcoming One UI 8.5 update. According to a recent report by SammyGuru, the South Korean giant intends to introduce major tweaks that will help connectivity be more predictable.
One of the useful features added is the Real-Time Data Priority Mode, which is meant to fix any stuttering during video calls or heavy-demanding tasks caused by an app update running in the background. With the help of this mode, background tasks will not slow you down and will ensure smooth communication or game time.
While AI seems to be a core part of software updates and integrations, we see Samsung opting for a similar approach to other tech giants by using artificial intelligence to make switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data less frustrating and smarter. It is doing so by introducing two toggles to help with the switching disruptions:
Intelligent Link Assessment: This feature would be responsible for seeing if the Wi-Fi connection is stable and whether there is a need for mobile data in case of weak signals.
Intelligent Network Switch: This capability goes one step ahead and does not just look for Wi-Fi strength in the moment, but analyzes past connections. For instance, if it notices Wi-Fi drops in certain areas, it automatically switches to mobile data before the Wi-Fi weakens, so no lags or disconnections are experienced.
These options would bring huge convenience, given that they would remove the need to manually toggle Wi-Fi and auto-switch smartly. The report, however, states that the Secure Wi-Fi option will be removed in the new update, but it is not yet clear if it will be a temporary change. The removal would, however, raise privacy and security concerns.
By introducing these important updates, Samsung will make users’ lives easier by eliminating the everyday hiccups in their work or daily communication. While the One UI 8 with Android 16 was recently rolled out with promising upgrades, it seems like the next upgrade is focused on smoother transitions and smarter working.
