The green line issue is a bane for users who have devices with OLED panels. Although this issue is no longer limited to devices from a single company, different companies are handling it differently. Samsung has now decided to offer free screen replacement for the affected users, but this offer is currently only live in India and only applies to select Galaxy phones.
Samsung will throw a free screen and battery replacement as long as your device meets the criteria
If you are wondering why Samsung picked this time of all time, then that is because the reports of Galaxy phones developing this issue have been piling up lately. Most users are reporting that their Galaxy S21 devices have been developing the green line problem after getting the latest update, and now, the South Korean firm is trying to provide some reprieve.
The free screen replacement offer is currently only available in India because that is where most of the reports are coming from, and the display replacement is free for Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Note 20, and Galaxy S22 devices. The catch here is that the device has to be purchased within the last three years, and the deadline to claim this offer is April 30th, 2024. So, you better hurry up.
The good news is that Samsung does not require you to ensure that your phone is under warranty; you can claim it even if your device is outside its standard warranty period. You also get a free battery replacement when you claim this offer.
At the moment, we are not sure whether Samsung is going to extend this offer to devices that are not in the list above. We also don't know if this will apply to other regions because, of course, this issue is not an isolated problem. At the time of writing, there's no word from the company, but we will update you once there is more clarification about the situation.
Honestly, I am glad that Samsung is going to the extent of offering free replacements for the devices affected. It might not be a big deal to some, but users who have gone through this issue are surely relieved, and it paints the company in a very good light.
