Last year, Samsung pivoted in the smart ring category by bringing its first Galaxy Ring ahead. While the wearable was well received by the tech community for its compact size and health-oriented features, many users did express their wish for the company to add more size options. Not long after the original ring came out, the South Korean tech giant started working on the next-generation smart ring and started looking into adding more size options to its first one to extend to a wider user base. Now, it seems that this might happen at the Galaxy Unpacked, and the competition is about to get fiercer.

Samsung will be adding 14 and 15-ring sizes starting this January 22nd to better compete with Oura Ring

The recent speculations about Samsung adding two more sizes to its Galaxy Ring stand true. The company has announced that it will be adding sizes 14 and 15 and the new options will begin rolling out for purchase on January 22nd. The South Korean tech giant is not only working on wider availability of its smart ring but also bringing more advanced sleep and health features.

Samsung would now be offering the Galaxy Ring in sizes ranging from 5 to 15, and the complete range of sizes would be available in more markets, making it to a total of 53 markets. Although there is not much information available on other details, such as the weight of the ring or the battery life it would offer, the bigger size's battery life could last longer than the other sizes. Galaxy Ring came out in July 2024 and marked a huge leap by Samsung by stepping into a new category, especially with the already established position of the Oura Ring.

Since its global launch, Samsung has expanded its wearables availability and has extended it to 38 markets, including Australia, Canada, China, Finland, Mexico, Thailand, and Turkey, among many others. With the promised availability in 16 additional markets, the company is ensuring not just a wider user base in terms of its 11-size options but also with the extended market, putting it in a better position to compete with the Oura Ring.

Additionally, Samsung is updating its Samsung Health app by offering more advanced sleep health features that are meant to ensure a good night's sleep for its users. Some of the new additions include; Sleep time guidance, a Mindfulness tracker, and a Sleep environment report, all of which highlight the company's commitment to bringing beneficial health solutions to its users. Galaxy Ring, with its expanded sizes and market, support for optimal sleep, and comprehensive approach to health capabilities, is meant to stir things around in the smart ring category, and users are also anticipating the possible roll-out of the second generation ring at the Galaxy Unpacked.
