The rumors turned out to be true, as Samsung has officially announced Galaxy Unpacked 2024, where the company is expected to unveil the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Strange enough, the update was pushed through Samsung Australia’s account on X and not from a press release. Thankfully, the date and time have been shared on that account.
For those interested, Galaxy Unpacked 2024 will kick off on January 18, 5 AM AEDT, as it is going by Australia’s time zone. If we go according to Pacific Standard Time (PST), then the event will be held on January 17, which is what the earlier rumors predicted. The event's location is said to be San Jose, California, but some Brazilian retailers likely did not receive the memo from Samsung as they started marketing the Galaxy S24 Ultra much earlier than the intended date.

With the announcement slated for January 17, knowing Samsung, it will kick off pre-orders shortly after the Galaxy S24 series has been officially announced, repeating what it did with the Galaxy S23 unveiling. We have also learned that Samsung intends to reward early adopters with pre-order bonuses, just like last year, by offering twice the storage at the same price, along with discounting the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds FE. However, we later learned that these bonuses are for South Korean consumers, meaning that Samsung has other freebies and offers planned, depending on where you live.
We expect the company to dive deep into some of the AI features arriving to the Galaxy S24 models, as a previous Walmart listing shared plenty of details. The teaser also mentions ‘Galaxy AI is coming,’ which could be related to generative AI, but we have not heard of the company introducing on-device LLMs on the Galaxy S24 series due to the taxing storage and memory requirements, so we will have to wait for the official announcement to learn more.
