Samsung 990 EVO 2TB PCIe Gen 5 SSD is 24 percent cheaper on Amazon

Samsung only recently announced the 990 EVO and the hybrid PCIe Gen 5 SSD has already been discounted on Amazon by 24 percent, bringing the 2TB drive’s price down to just $159.99. Though there is also a 1TB version that retails for $99.99, the higher capacity version commands better value. Also, given how quickly games and other applications are chewing up storage, upgrading to a 1TB drive is pretty much pointless unless you get an exceptional discount on it.

The 990 EVO touts a standard M.2 SSD size and will fit in almost any desktop or laptop computer. Its PCIe Gen 5 hybrid design means that it will also deliver high read and write speeds while being extremely energy efficient. In fact, Samsung claims that the 990 EVO’s performance-per-watt gets a 70 percent improvement compared to the previous-generation 970 EVO, making the SSD be less prone to overheating and it will not throttle during read and write operations.

Regarding read and write operations, the 990 EVO’s sequential read speeds top out at 5,000MB/s while read speeds reach 4,200MB/s. Another reason why we recommend this Samsung PCIe Gen 5 drive is thanks to the company’s Magician Software, which keeps track of the solid state drive’s health and brings in timely firmware updates to ensure that the 990 EVO performs optimally.

Samsung’s Data Migration Software also guarantees that you will seamlessly transfer data from one drive to another without any complications, making the 990 EVO a superstar in M.2 PCIe solid state drives. It is a shame that Samsung did not introduce a 4TB version since that would likely have become a best-selling product on Amazon. Perhaps in the future, the Korean giant will entertain our request.
