Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, is also the owner of 2K, the massive publisher and developer behind several titles, though most notably the annual basketball series, NBA 2K. Today, Rockstar announced that it would be combining the two franchises, with players subscribed to GTA+, which grants special bonuses in-game Grand Theft Auto V, getting access to NBA 2K26 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles for a limited time starting next week.
The latest installment in the annualized basketball franchise will be accessible to GTA+ subscribers on March 10, and the full game, on top of 5,000 VC, six types of skill boosts for five games, and a guaranteed Diamond Player Pack will be accessible to GTA+ subscribers until April 20, 2026.
So for a little more than a month, GTA+ subscribers will be able to jump into NBA 2K26 and put their hoop skills to the test against other players online, or take a more casual approach and hop through full seasons and live out their own dreams of being an NBA superstar.
On the Grand Theft Auto V side of things, players are getting the Broker Prolaps Basketball top and shorts for free in their wardrobe this month, to mark the inclusion of NBA 2K26 in the library of games that GTA+ players get access to.
If you want to grab NBA 2K26 separately from your subscription, subscribers will get 20% off the cost of the game on whichever platform their subscription is tied to.
Adding NBA 2K to the GTA+ subscription is something that we've not seen before, since the library is purpose-built to include Rockstar-made games. It'll be interesting to see if Take-Two starts more of these cross-promotional initiatives, especially once Grand Theft Auto VI launches later this year. Yes, annualized sports titles are always some of the biggest games in the industry, but nothing will be bigger than GTA VI. If Take-Two can smartly take advantage of that through this subscription service, it could result in even greater revenues for the company.
