Epomaker Galaxy100 Wireless Gaming Keyboard Hands-On Review: Exceptional Typing Experience

Feb 12, 2025 at 09:28am EST

Well, Epomaker is one of the brands out there, which does make me think about having a custom keyboard, and fortunately, they were kind enough to send one out. I am not much of a keyboard guy since my work gets done on your average keyboard from DELL, but with the Epomaker Galaxy100, I do think that I have missed out on the experience of a keyboard that is tailored to the user's needs.

Epomaker Galaxy100 Wireless Gaming Keyboard; White Switches, PBT Keycaps & Aluminium Build Makes It Phenomenal

Enough of the personal talk; let's get into what the Galaxy100 can do. According to Epomaker, the manufacturer has taken the suggestions from their previous iterations, the Galaxy80 and Galaxy70, and implemented them to push out the best product possible in their lineup. The Galaxy100 basically merges the use-case of an average consumer with a keyboard enthusiast since not only is the keyboard tailored perfectly out of the box, but with a hot-swappable keyboard structure along with support for firmware like QMK/VIA, you basically get control over the customizations of the Galaxy100.

For a quick rundown on specifications, the Epomaker Galaxy100 features a gasket-mounted structure, a premium configuration designed to ensure the best responses and crisp typing sound that you would expect with a keyboard of this tier. The keyboard also comes with pre-lubed linear marble switches, specifically designed to ensure that the experience with this keyboard is enjoyable. I must say, my productivity has significantly scaled up with the Galaxy100, and this isn't exaggerated at all.

The second best part about the Galaxy100 for me is that the keyboard has wireless connectivity, which is a factor that will indeed incline multiple consumers towards it. It features an 8000mAh battery with a 2.4 GHz Bluetooth connection that ensures optimal response rates, and I have gone days without charging it. For competitive use cases, you can attach a low-latency cable with the keyboard as well, offering higher versatility.

Epomaker Galaxy100 Wireless Gaming Keyboard Unboxing & Close-Up

The packaging is pretty ordinary—nothing too premium—but it certainly gets the job done. The inner box slides out, and the keyboard lies along with the necessary accessories, such as a keycap puller and the USB cable. The Galaxy100 was surrounded by ample packaging. Hence, you shouldn't worry about shipping at all. I would've loved it if the keyboard came with extra goodies, such as a small set of custom keycaps, but considering the price point, that might not be possible for the company.

Starting with the keycaps come in a black and cherry color profile. The material is PBT plastic, which is a popular choice in the industry. I have used the keyboard for a week and haven't seen any thumbprint impressions or an oily surface, which is undoubtedly impressive. The thick walls of the PBT keycaps definitely help in dampening the sound, and the typing experience is just incredible with the Galaxy100. Another fascinating inclusion with the Galaxy100 is the aluminum gasket design, which is said to be the key reason behind the crisp typing with the keyboard, and that is what we'll discuss next.

The keyboard features a five-layer sound-dampening mechanism. While we won't go into the specifics, the layers mean that the actual sound is adjusted five different times, which creates a typing sound that words cannot define. Again, I am not exaggerating. Maybe this is the first time I have used a custom keyboard; hence, my viewpoints may seem biased, but I am sure a keyboard enthusiast will agree with me as well.

The aluminum build does help ensure that the keyboard remains stable while typing or in gaming scenarios, but it also massively increases the weight, which might trouble many users. I almost forgot to mention the rotary knob, which is present with the Galaxy100, and that certainly adds a great touch to the overall build, but for me, the use case isn't that much. Overall, I am indeed impressed with the keyboard's physical structure, but what's next is even more enjoyable.

Epomaker Galaxy100 Wireless Gaming Keyboard; Marble Switches & Most Importantly, The RGB Onboard

Many consumers would agree that keyboard switches might be the most important thing to look at before choosing one. Well, for the Galaxy100, the keyboard features Epomaker's very own Feker Marble White Switch, which is said to be a 5-pin linear switch. I am not much of an expert on how switches work, but the actuation force with this one is said to be around 42g, with 3.5 mm travel. The lube job on these switches impressed me since they didn't create the cranky sound at all, and instead, the pressing force seemed way too good to be true.

The RGB onboard is pretty interesting since the switches are surrounded by built-in RGB diffusers, which add a great touch to the overall look. Instead of direct exposure to the RGB light, the diffused look is great to the eye and ample enough for dark conditions. Being an RGB geek, I would've loved extra lightning around the knob and running alongside the keyboard chassis, but yet again, that's a personal preference.

Epomaker Galaxy100 Wireless Gaming Keyboard Conclusion: Perfect For Enthusiasts

The Galaxy100 turns out to be an excellent keyboard, and apart from all the features it contains, the price point certainly makes it a compelling option. At $109.99 for the Feker Marble White Switch, this makes it a great option to look at, and given the wireless configuration, everything adds up to make it the right package for those looking to step into the custom keyboard segment.
