Additional details about the setting of the rumored Resident Evil 9 might have surfaced.

Some days ago, known Capcom leaker 'Dusk Golem' took to X to talk about the next Resident Evil entry - for now dubbed Resident Evil 9. According to the leaker, the upcoming open-world Resident Evil 9 will soon be officially announced and is currently set for a release in January 2025. Although not directly a sequel to Resident Evil Village, the game is said to close the arc that started with the current Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

As it turns out, in the same X thread from some days ago regarding Resident Evil 9's release frame, Dusk Golem additionally posted on the game's setting. Apparently, the leaker talked about it on his Discord and was later asked about it on X. So what is the setting of Resident Evil 9 then? According to the leaker, Resident Evil 9 will be set on a Singapore-inspired Island in a fictional rural town in the Southeast Asia sea. "A fictional rural town on an island in the Southeast Asia Sea inspired by Singapore specifically", Dusk Golem posted on X. He later added, "Yeee, I see someone caught me saying that on Discord before I deleted it, it is what it is, so I don't mind clarifying a bit. To let it play out how it does."

Whether this info from Dusk Golem is correct remains to be seen, but the leaker has often been correct when it comes to leaking Capcom-related details. If Resident Evil 9 is indeed releasing within eight months from now, an official announcement from Capcom will likely follow soon.

As always, we will keep you updated as soon as more information about the next main Resident Evil entry comes in. For now, stay tuned and discuss this new 'info' below. Would you like Resident Evil 9 to be set on a Singapore-inspired island? Hit the comments.
